If you want to get from your driveway to the water in record time, Liberty Lake is your go-to spot. Located just fifteen miles east of downtown, it offers a quick escape without requiring a long trek down winding country roads.

What to do: Head to Liberty Lake Regional Park on the south shore. It features a fantastic sandy swimming beach, picnic areas, and a playground. If you like to mix your beach days with some exercise, the park also connects to a beautiful 8-mile trail loop that takes you past hidden waterfalls.

2. Fish Lake: The Peaceful Paddle

For those who prefer a quieter, slower pace of life, Fish Lake is a hidden gem tucked away just outside of Cheney, south of Spokane.
