A New Outdoor Gem Just Opened in Spokane Valley

If you love finding new places to get outside around Spokane, there’s a brand-new spot in Spokane Valley worth knowing about.

The Course Spokane Valley has officially opened at Flora Park, bringing 46 acres of trails, open space and a purpose-built cross-country running course to the community.

And you definitely don’t have to be a competitive runner to enjoy it.

More Than a Running Course

Located at 2520 N. Flora Road near the Spokane River, The Course was designed as a dedicated cross-country venue, with course configurations ranging from 5K to 10K.

The landscape is part of what makes it interesting. The course travels through grassy meadows, rocky terrain and stands of mature Douglas fir trees, creating a setting that feels much more like exploring the outdoors than running laps around a traditional sports facility.

There’s also a quarter-mile walking path connecting observation areas throughout the property.

Best of all, when the property isn’t reserved for an event, the public can explore the course and park grounds.

That makes this more than a new venue for races. It gives Spokane Valley residents another place to walk, run and spend some time outside.

A New Destination for Spokane Valley

The Course is also expected to bring some pretty significant running events to our area.

Upcoming competitions include collegiate meets and regional championships, and Spokane Valley has already been selected to host the 2027 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country West Regional Championships.

That means runners, families and spectators from throughout the region will be coming to Spokane Valley — visiting our restaurants, staying in our hotels and discovering more of our community while they’re here.

Put This One on Your Spokane List

One of my favorite things about living in the Spokane area is that there always seems to be another trail, park or outdoor space waiting to be discovered.

The Course Spokane Valley is now one more to add to the list.

Whether you’re training for your next 5K, looking for somewhere different to walk, or simply curious to see Spokane Valley’s newest outdoor space, it’s worth checking out.

Because events can reserve the course, check the City of Spokane Valley’s schedule before heading out.

And if discovering more places like this is part of what you love about living here, that’s exactly what I share through Homegrown Spokane — the places, people and little discoveries that make the Spokane area feel like home.
