Evacuated in Spokane? Here’s How to Find Your Mail
If you’ve been evacuated from your home, you may be wondering where your mail is being held and which Post Office you should visit.
Don’t automatically go to the Post Office closest to your home. Your mail pickup location is determined by USPS based on the facility serving your home address, and that location may change during an emergency.
How to Find Your Mail
1. Check USPS Service Disruptions
USPS posts updates about mail delivery interruptions and temporary pickup locations.
Check current service disruptions:
https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/
Look for information affecting Washington and the Spokane area.
2. Find Your Local Post Office
Use the USPS location finder:
https://tools.usps.com/locations/
Enter the address or ZIP code of the home you evacuated from, not where you are currently staying.
Your normal Post Office may not be where your mail is being held, so confirm before making the trip.
3. Call USPS If You’re Unsure
1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777)
Give them your evacuated home address and ZIP code and ask:
“Where is mail for my evacuated address being held, and where can I pick it up?”
What to Bring
Bring a valid photo ID when picking up your mail. Ask USPS if additional proof of address is required.
